The International Visitor Survey (IVS) is Australia's pre-eminent study for monitoring the behaviour of international tourists and the impact of international tourism. The IVS is one of Australia's largest face-to-face surveys, with 40,000 international visitors interviewed each year.
The National Visitor Survey (NVS) is the main source of information on Australians' travel habits, behaviour and expenditure. The NVS is one of the country's largest telephone research surveys, with 120,000 Australians interviewed each year.
Information from the IVS and NVS is a key input for tourism marketing and business planning for national, state and local tourism bodies.
